8-24-2006 - Today, we waited, and waited, and waited! It’s now 8:10pm, but we've had many successes!

The main economic proposals are sitting with the company and we expect a response tonight at 9:30pm. This response will help reduce the distance between our positions, but we still have major work to do.

The company has held firm in some areas, and has compromised in others (as we have). Things are coming to a head, and we’re expecting that things will start moving fast toward conclusion.

Keep wearing those Union pins and take pride that your solidarity is working strongly in your favor.

The Union gave the company our proposal # 3 to their Non-Economic counter and the union gave the company the first look at our Economic proposals. The company countered our Economic proposal around 4:00 p.m. at 7:30 p.m. our time the union gave the company our #2 Economic proposal.  The company said they would have a counter proposal to our #2 to us by 9:30 p.m. tonight, so we are waiting for that.

23 August 2006

We've gotten agreements from the company on re-writing non-economic issues.

We presented our first economic proposal and a non-economic counter this afternoon. This presents the most contentious time of the negotiations. Members on the LM side of the table are rolling their eyes and sighing heavily with every proposal we make. We fully expect long days and lots of verbal sparing through Friday night.

Talked to Robbie, he can give you a briefing. I have been sending word docs to the W12 Web Administrator but they are not being posted. Go to iam933.org, this is Luke’s Web site, but all the proposals are the same. Even when the company comes back with 4 separate CBA’s proposals they all read the same. We are still pushing to become one CBA.

They are only a few items’ we are discussing on the non-economics proposal. One of the big items is the Company wants part-time workers, with unlimited numbers on part time employees, we are standing firm on “No Part Time Workers”. The Company’s language says part time workers will not replace full time works, but it leaves it wide open on new hires.

The economics proposal was our 1st proposal to the Company, in other words do not go out and buy a new truck.

Talk to you later.

Union Negotiation Brief

Not much from Lockheed today.

At 0900 we meet with Lockheed. Went through the normal greetings, gave Lockheed our non-economics proposal. Lockheed adjoined around 1000 (10:00AM) to go over our proposal. We were supposed to meet with Lockheed at 1500 (3:00PM) to receive Lockheed’s proposal, but Lockheed rescheduled to 0900 Tuesday morning.

After Lockheed left the conference room, we went back over our economics and non-economics proposals. We adjourned at 1700, re-group Tuesday 0800.

Hopefully should have more information on Tuesday.

It is damn hot here.
